Twin Geckos Technology Services LLC was founded in 2003 by JD Austin — not from a business plan, but from necessity. Following the economic disruption of 9/11, JD found himself at a crossroads and turned a challenge into an opportunity: building a company that could help businesses thrive by leveraging powerful, affordable open-source technology.
From the beginning, the mission was clear: give small and mid-sized businesses access to the same caliber of technology that big enterprises pay millions for — without the bloated licensing fees, vendor lock-in, or overcomplicated implementations.
Twenty-plus years later, that mission hasn't changed. In 2025, JD jumped into AI automation — and it's now the fastest-growing part of the business.

Why "Twin Geckos"?
Geckos climb walls not with adhesive, but through van der Waals forces — millions of tiny interactions creating extraordinary grip. JD was fascinated by this: solving hard problems with elegant, natural mechanisms, not brute force. The yin-yang-inspired logo represents complete enterprise infrastructure, customer control, and freedom from vendor captivity.

2003
Twin Geckos Founded
JD Austin launches Twin Geckos Technology Services LLC in Arizona, with a mission to deliver open-source business solutions at honest prices.
2004
First Asterisk Phone System
Deploying our first Asterisk-based PBX on March 18th — after outgrowing cell phones and inadequate third-party systems. Telephony services become a core offering.
2005–2010
Infrastructure Expansion
Expanding into Linux server administration, firewall management, file servers, and CRM deployments — all built on open-source platforms.
2010–2020
Database & Remote Services
Adding database design, optimization, and migration services. Expanding remote support capabilities to serve clients across Arizona and beyond.
2025
AI Automation Agency Launch
JD dives into AI automation — launching an agency practice focused on intelligent workflow automation, AI chatbots, and custom integrations for small and mid-sized businesses.
